Promoting tourism

SHELLHARBOUR City will continue to be promoted as a major tourism destination, thanks to its new full-colour Visitors Guide.

Following on from its success in previous years, the 2013 Shellharbour Visitors Guide will continue to be the city's major marketing tool.

It will complement the ongoing efforts by Tourism Shellharbour in its destination marketing push.

Tourism Shellharbour has launched the guide to help position the area as a major tourism destination.

The guide features 42 full-colour pages and promotes the numerous experiences Shellharbour has on offer, highlighting its unique attributes.

Tourism Shellharbour's tourism manager Diane Johnston said it covered the city's major attractions, including Killalea State Park, other parks and reserves, Lake Illawarra, beaches, child-friendly areas, sports and entertainment, shopping, relaxation, dining, wedding venues and functions, accommodation and more.

"The 2013 guide will assist our efforts in educating and motivating potential visitors to experience everything we have on offer, with the aim to encourage them to stay longer and spend more in Shellharbour," she said.

Mrs Johnston said the guide was also a platform for directing potential visitors to the Tourism Shellharbour website, located at visitshellharbour.com.au.

She said the website was a valuable planning and conversion tool, where potential visitors can make real-time online accommodation bookings.

The 2013 Shellharbour Visitors Guide is being distributed throughout all NSW visitor information centres, as well as local accommodation and attraction operators.

The guide will also be available at all trade and consumer shows, as well as promotional events attended by Tourism Shellharbour throughout the year.
