Shellharbour gals' footy fest

GIRLS aged eight to 15 from the local area are encouraged to participate in a three-day football festival that is being held in Shellharbour from Monday, January 14, to Friday, January 18.

Keith Wallace, Sport and Recreation South Coast co-ordinator, said the program was a great opportunity for girls to get active and try three different football codes on three separate days.

"The program will help them to develop their soccer skills with Football NSW, learn how to play AFL with a team from AFL South Coast and have a go at rugby league with the Women in League & Dragons Community Team," Mr Wallace said.

"We really appreciate the support being provided by the different sports associations, who are committed to helping more girls experience a new sport and learn new skills in a fun, safe and supportive environment.

"The low-cost sports clinics can cater for up to 50 participants, but bookings are essential so register your interest early before the clinics book out."

January 14, soccer; January 16, AFL; January 18, rugby league. From 9am to noon, Centenary Field, Croome Road Sports Complex, Shellharbour.

Cost is $30 per person - includes all three days. To enrol, call 13 13 02 and have your credit card ready.
