LAWYER by day, performer by night; Kiama's Steve Warwick will be bearing (almost) all at the Roo Theatre's opening performance of the Full Monty this Saturday.
Mr Warwick and his cast mates are recreating the famous British comedy that follows six recently-retrenched and down-and-out steel workers as they attempt to raise funds through an all-male striptease show.
The Roo will bring a uniquely local spin to the show, replacing the woe-ridden steelworks of Sheffield with BlueScope Steel giving a distinctly parochial focus to the classic that deals with themes of unemployment, depression and body image.
"It's a very challenging show," Mr Warwick said. "It's a great story though, and a lot of fun for audiences."
The theatre world is a far stretch from his day job at Kiama's RMB Lawyers, but for Mr Warwick, who's dabbled in singing and acting since his school days, it's the perfect creative escape.
"It uses a different side of the brain compared with my day-to-day work, and I really enjoy it," he said.
Mr Warwick, who moved to Kiama in 1998, was "discovered" by Roo Theatre veteran Gordon Streek while performing Christmas Carols with the Kiama Rugby Club back
in 2004.
