KARI HILL – on work experience

Jazz group Wild Rice will spice up your winter’s night on Saturday, July 5, at Gerringong Town Hall.

Wild Rice is a five-piece combo group that plays a mixture of jazz and blues, influenced by New Orleans, Cuba and the Caribbean.

Group members are Chris Ross (trumpet and vocals), Alison Penny (piano and vocals), Anthony Howe (drums and vocals). There will also be special guests.

Kiama Jazz Club musical director Ross Eggleton said Wild Rice was a perfect choice for a dance cabaret evening.

“Their music is popular yet diverse, intensely energetic and magically entertaining,” he said.

“Above all, they ignite the night with fun.

“The nights are cold and we need to get moving and grooving again.”

Wild Rice already has two successful CDs and will surely get your feet moving with their dance cabaret music.

“We’ve had enough nights of hibernating,” Mr Eggleton said.

“It’s time to get frocked up for a bit of socialising, dancing and foot tapping.”

The night starts at 8pm.

There will be table seating and BYO supper and drinks.

Tickets are available from Kiama Visitors Centre on 4232 3322 and cost $25 or $20 for Kiama Jazz Club members and students.
