Werri Beach 6 turned out in fine style and looked magnificent in their new uniform to provide one of the highlights of Kiama Netball on Saturday, having updated their shirt to enhance the already stylish skirt.

Once again this week, Grace Philips defended well in goal defence and Emily Tomkins played well in goal attack. Harper Martin was very busy in centre court playing wing attack.

Junior Netball Round 7

It is probably timely to remind parents of the need to contain their derogatory comments and not indulge in the childish behaviour of denigrating junior umpires.

The Kiama Netball Association takes a very dim view of some of the comments heard from grown ups who should know better.

Please remember that these juniors are doing their best and also acknowledge that they are doing the job and you’re not, which is probably even sadder because maybe you should be to realize what a thankless job it is and also remember that without them, we don’t have a game for your girls to play each week.

In the 10 years competition this week, Kiama Downs 8 defeated Werri Beach 5 by 5 goals to 2, and Gainsborough 17 defeated Gerringong 7 by 6 goals to 1 and in the final game in this division, Beachettes 11 defeated Kiama Central 12 by 12 goals to 5.

Junior B competition was tight this week with Kiama Central 11 getting over the line from Kiama Downs 7 by a three goal margin, 8 goals to 5. In the other game Gainsborough 15 defeated Beachettes 10 by 13 goals to 5.

Moving into the Junior A division and the Berry 4 team overcame a tenacious Beachettes 9 team to take the match by 11 goals to 3, with the next game in this division seeing Gerringong 6 defeating Kiama Downs 6 by 15 goals to 5.

The final game in this division saw Beachettes 8 defeat Gainsborough 14 by 17 goals to 5.

On to Intermediate C and the first game in this division saw the strong Kiama Central 9 defeat Beachettes 11 by 25 goals to 2 and in the second game, Berry 3 defeated Gainsborough 13 by 18 goals to 5.

In a hard fought Intermediate B game between Gerringong 5 and Kiama Downs 4, Gerringong with the whole team playing as a well oiled unit went on to defeat Kiama Downs by just 5 goals, 27-22.

The next game in this division saw two Beachettes teams up against each other, with the Beachettes 6 team overcoming the Beachettes 5 team by just 3 goals, 29 goals to 26. The final game saw the Gainsborough 12 team defeat Werri Beach 3 by 34 goals to 9.
