The Cancer Council made an important visit to Kiama last week with its new mobile information service.
The mobile van aims to bring essential cancer information to people in rural and regional communities. Information officer Anella Powell said the van had been travelling since April and had visited regions throughout NSW.
“Basically, we are connecting people to cancer – we talk to people about what to do to decrease the risk of development and answer any questions they have about cancer.”
Ms Powell said it was essential that people know about the Cancer Council’s variety of operations.
“We put people in touch with people to talk to in their area and we also discuss the depth and breadth of our research into cancer,” she said.
