KIAMA’S trees will be lit up once again to celebrate the Easter period as part of the ongoing project led by Kiama and District Chamber of Commerce.
Integral Energy’s southern region manager Bill Watts said the trees would be lit up for about a week, starting tonight.
He said Integral, one of the sponsors of the $60,000 project, would be “in there for the long haul”.
“We’re proud to be associated with this project,” he said.
“We’ve got a number of projects in the Illawarra, but this is probably one of the more visible, being actually lights in trees, unlike our sponsorship of events such as Southern Stars.”
The lights were installed in four of the Norfolk pines along Terralong St and one on Blowhole Point in November.
Chamber president Warwick Colbron said he was pleased the lights would be turned on for another holiday time.
“The chamber once again thanks Kiama Municipal Council, Integral Energy and the other generous business sponsors for making this ongoing project possible,” he said.
Mr Colbron said plans were progressing to erect a stone obelisk with a plaque recognising the project’s sponsors.
