KIAMA Public School's girls' hockey team finished third at last week's state finals in Lithgow.
In their first game against eventual title winners Tinonee Public School, the Kiama girls defended strongly but unfortunately lost 2-nil.
In their second game of the event they defeated Murwillumbah Primary School 4-1, officially making them the third best girls hockey team in the state.
The Kiama team played with admirable skill, determination and teamwork, with every player now the better for having experienced such a big game environment.
The team consisted of Bella Worner-Butcher, Caitlin Wallner, Grace Jamieson, Erin Porritt, Sally Carney, Sheridan Young, Mardi Murphy, Jemma Hart, Grace Pardoe, Mikaela Patterson, Kiarra Marsh-Walker, Hollie Poppleton, Candice Daniec and Chivonne Robb.
The skilled coaching of Sue Carney was vital to the team's success, as was the support of the parents and family members.
