SUDMALIS FIRES FIRST SALVO

NEWLY endorsed Liberal Party candidate for the seat of Kiama Ann Sudmalis has fired off her first press salvo, taking a swipe at current MP Matt Brown for Police Minister Carl Scullys handling of the controversial Cronulla Riot report.

Mrs Sudmalis challenged Mr Brown to support or repudiate Mr Scully over the report.

Today I challenge Mr Brown to publicly back Carl Scully or repudiate him for lying to parliament and misleading the public.

Mr Brown must explain to the people of Kiama whether they support a minister who has lied to parliament and lied to the people of Kiama, Mrs Sudmalis said.

Law and order is a continuing issue in Kiama and the local people need to know whether their local Labor member supports a Police Minister that has lied to the people and smeared a senior police officer.

After 12 years of Labor, Carl Scully has failed in every portfolio he's held only to be promoted to the next one.

Mr Brown fired back yesterday, labelling Mrs Sudmalis first media release since being endorsed as indicative of the grubby tactics of the Liberal Partys right wing extremists.

Its typical of the grubby and negative tactics so often see with the Liberal Party, said Mr Brown yesterday.

Theyre playing the man, not the ball and again, not announcing one single policy initiative.

Mr Brown cited the governments handing down of what he called the toughest anti riot laws in the country last year which include confiscation provisions for mobile phones and cars and area lockdowns as indicative of Mr Scullys commitment to law and order.

I want to spend my time enhancing police powers and resources and working for a safer community, rather than playing silly political games that dont achieve anything as far as the safety of our community is concerned.

This shows a party run by right wing extremists that refuse to have detailed policy but want to play politics on issues that dont affect the safety of our community.
