SUDMALIS ACCUSES BROWN OF CHEAP TRICKS OVER IR CAMPAIGN

LIBERAL candidate for the seat of Kiama Ann Sudmalis has accused Kiama MP Matt Brown of using cheap tactics in the wake of Thursday's industrial relations protests.

Mr Brown who addressed the workers before Thursday's rally later questioned Mrs Sudmalis for not turning up to the protest saying by doing so she had neglected to stand in solidarity with the working familys of Kiama.

A livid Mrs Sudmalis hit straight back at the local member saying she had chose not to attend the rally after being made unwelcome at an earlier public forum by a senior local Labor Party member.

I was specifically asked not to attend that forum, a member of the Labor Party said they did not want me there, she said. When is a public forum a public forum.

Given the nature of this debate I once again assumed that they did not want me there either.

It is extremely disappointing being told not to come somewhere and it is very disappointing that Matt would come out and say this.

Come on guys lets play fair.

Challenging Mrs Sudmalis to stand up for working familys and against the federal governments new industrial relations legislation Mr Brown argued that Thursday's rally was an important signal to Opposition Leader Peter Debnam illustrating how out of touch he is with the public.

In promising to hand over the industrial relations powers to the Federal Government Mr Debnam will hurt working families, Mr Brown said.

The NSW Liberals are cheating the one million people who are still protected by the fair and balanced NSW industrial relations system.

They will lose the shelter of a powerful independent umpire who can step in and fairly resolve disputes.

By going to this rally over 400 concerned residents in Kiama have shown the Member for Vaucluse how out of touch he is with ordinary working people who want and need a fair go in the workplace.

Accusing Mr Brown of distorting the truth Mrs Sudmalis replied by saying she will always stand up for people whether it is in the workplace or otherwise.

If any family approaches me on any of my door knocks I will promise to do my best and stand up for each person on each individual case, she said. This is not a government issue at the moment it is about working out the best options between the employer and an employee. I can assure you I will help do that in any way I can.
