HOT ON the heels of being named the Gilmore Elite Junior Sportswoman of the year, Gerringong's Sarah Broadhead has scored excellent results in three major racewalking events.
On the Queen's Birthday long weekend, Sarah won the under 14 girls' 2km handicap event at the Lake Burley-Griffin carnival in Canberra.
Competing for Regal Race Walkers, Sarah set a personal best at the event, which attracts the best walkers from across Australia.
On June 24, Sarah finished third in the State Short Walk Championship at Chipping Norton, representing Illawarra Blue Stars Athletics Club.
On Sunday Sarah competed in the Little Athletics NSW State Road Walks.
Competing for Kiama Little As Centre, Sarah produced another personal best on her way to third place in the under 12 1500m road walk.
Sarah is now focusing on trying to win selection in the Athletics NSW team to contest the national championships at Perth in September.
Earlier this year, Sarah was the Gilmore Elite Junior Sportswoman of the year for 2006 for her exploits in athletics, cross country, hockey, softball and cricket.
That honour came after winning the region two award earlier in 2007.
