Kiama Public School’s Swimming Carnival held recently gave our House Captains for 2008 a chance to demonstrate their leadership for the first major sporting event of the year by setting an example when competing in the carnival and leading the cheering for their fellow house members.
The value of equity is practised daily at Kiama Public School, whereby students have the opportunity to demonstrate their leadership skills through a variety of roles.
One of these roles is that of House Captains or Vice-Captains, where their responsibilities include organising their house teams at carnivals, encouraging participation, organising equipment and distributing sports notes.
Congratulations to the following students who have been elected by their peers to lead their sporting house during 2008:
BASS – Chase Boreland and Jaime Emerson (Captains), Joshua Deen and Kiarra Marsh-Walker (Vice-Captains).
DUNSTAN – Josh Oxley and Alana Smith (Captains), Matt Panecasio and Dulcie Crane (Vice-Captains).
FLINDERS – Jack Patterson and Brittany Bugden (Captains), Sam Home and Chivonne Robb (Vice-Captains).
KENDALL – Kyle Sala and Mikaela Hogarth (captains), Klae Wright and Jaclyn Barlow (Vice-Captains).
Our House Captains were formally inducted by their House Patrons and Mr Carney at a K-6 assembly. Many proud parents were there to see their children receive their badges. Well done to all.
