KIAMA Councillor Warren Steel has vowed to continue on the council until the next local government election, despite confirming the sale of his real estate agency this week.

Cr Steel has served on Kiama Council since 1999 after an earlier stint from 1983 to 1987.

Although he is "retiring" from the real estate business, he confirmed he would continue as a councillor until next year"s local government elections.

However, he makes no promises beyond the September, 2008, poll.

"I don"t know if I"m going to stand at the next Kiama Council election," Cr Steel said.

"I might like retirement so much that I won"t want to come back."

Cr Steel announced he had sold his agency, Steel Family Real Estate, to Narellan-based investor Sudha Sudharshan earlier in the week.

The rebranded agency, which will be known as Space Real Estate, will be launched on April 24.

Although his controlling interest in the business will be transferred, Cr Steel confirmed he would stay on for a year as licensee.

All other staff would stay on board as part of the new venture.

Cr Steel"s wife, Sandra, is ecstatic that the sale has been completed.

"I get to play a little more golf and reunite with my grandchildren," she said.

"I just want to smell the roses and go out and play golf without having to worry about rushing back to work.

"I might even take up bowls if Warren wants some company."
