TWO sporting groups in the area are celebrating this week after receiving funding from the NSW Government’s Capital Assistance Program.

Kiama Netball Association received $16,665 to go towards the resurfacing of seven netball courts.

Vice-president Gary Dodd said the funds would allow much-needed upgrades to the courts.

“We’ve been using them since 1986 and they’ve never been resurfaced,” he said.

“Some of the courts have a lot of loose gravel and are dangerous for the girls running up and down.”

Mr Dodd said upgrades would encourage people to continue to use the courts.

“By keeping the courts in good condition, it ensures the facility is used,” he said.

Blowhole Tennis Club also received $5175 towards the upgrade of the tennis court surface.

Member for Kiama Matt Brown handed the cheques over to the groups and said it was great to see money being invested in sporting facilities.
