KIAMA JUNIOR CRICKET – Steve Hudson
PERSISTENT rain on Friday resulted in the cancellation of most of the Kiama Junior Cricket matches on Saturday. The only matches to go ahead were the three under 10’s games.
The Kiama Cronin and Norris 10As played Shell City Silver and scored 7/135. Coen Simon was the star, scoring 25 with good support from Josh Norris and Toby Dowd with 10 each.
Shellharbour struggled against good bowling and fielding from the Cavs and were dismissed for 56.
Liam Negus continues to perform well with the ball and returned the outstanding figures of 3 overs, 3 maidens, 3 wickets for 0 runs.
The Russell, McLelland, Brown 10B Gold Cavs to played their game against Jamberoo and batted first.
Joshua Gomes top scored with 13 runs before Kiama fielded well with Che Stubbs taking two great catches.
Bryce Humphries bowled well with 1/16 and Ben Howitt 2/13. Charlie McDonald earned the player of the match trophy.
The K and R Fabrication sponsored Kiama 10B Blue took on Albion Park at Jamberoo.
Kiama batted first and scored 4/112 with much improved batting from Christian Haigh and strong batting by Callum Porter and Nathan Brownlow.
Albion Park scored freely at the beginning of their innings but excellent fielding by Kiama and some good bowling performances by Callum Porter (3/4), Christian Haigh (0/5) and Jessie Willingham (1/9) meant Albion Park scored 7/119. A very exciting and close match was enjoyed by all.
