KIAMA has played host to two delegations from Asia in the past week looking at the tourism potential of the area.
On the weekend of May 19 and 20, a group of inbound tour operators from a Korean company visited the Illawarra.
They toured Jamberoo Action Park and Crooked River Winery, dined at bellachara boutique hotel at Gerringong and were taken by Kiama Tourism to Jervis Bay for a dolphin-watching cruise.
"The Korean company, which has offices in Sydney, is looking at opening up this area to the honeymoon market and to different styles of the market," Tourism Kiama manager Nicole Smithers said.
A group of media representatives from China also travelled around the region last week as part of a program put together by the regional tourism organisation.
"They spent two days in the Illawarra and Kiama got a fair share of that," Ms Smithers said.
"They should generate all sorts of media back in China for us.
"It's great to be able to promote the Kiama region overseas," Ms Smithers said.
