JOEL RITCHIE
THREE promising tenpin bowlers are preparing to represent Australia in a tournament in Malaysia.
Sam Cooley (Mt Warrigal), Ashleigh Kloot (Woonona) and Ross Byrne (Nowra) have been selected in the Australian team for the Milo International to be held in Malaysia, starting on December 15.
The trio were hand picked by Southern NSW and Australian coach Doc Kee to represent Australia at the International.
Their tournament will be held in a cavernous 48-lane centre just outside the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur.
“There’s nothing in Australia that compares to that centre,” Ashleigh’s mother, Debbie Kloot, said.
The trio have all had big 2007 campaigns.
They bowled at the Illawarra Junior Championships, Sydney Cup, City of Sydney Championship and Orange Junior Cup.
All three are aged 16 but will bowl against older competitors from around the world in Malaysia.
They will compete in singles, doubles and teams events at the titles.
While Sam Cooley bowls out of Illawarra Strikezone at Albion Park Rail, Ashleigh Cloot and Ross Byrne bowl out of the resurrected Shellharbour Bowl at Sunset Avenue, Warilla.
