THIS Saturday is Junior Soccer Registration Day for the Kiama Club which is to be held from 10 am at Kiama Leagues Club.
It is hoped there will be a good turnout with some budding young Socceroos in the making.
Players registering will require proof of age and as required by the IJFA a passport size photo for ID purposes.
Fees are $70 for the first child and $60 for each subsequent child for the season. Successful junior coach, Wayne Farnsworth, who played under the guidance of former Olympic coach, Raul Blanco, has been installed as cordinator of coaching and brings a wealth of experience into this area.
Also at the same venue, Kiama Football club will be launching its 200 Club.
This encompasses free entry to all home games, a free club polo shirt, 10% discount on all purchases from the kiosk on matchdays as well as a free advert in the club's Matchday Magazine for businesses, which totals over $250 plus further discounts.
The idea of the 200 Club is the brain child of Kiama President, Mr Steve Harrod, who envisages the need for funds before the season starts rather than being drip-fed funds over the season as is the case with most sponsorship deals.
Being promoted to the Premier League does have its financial drawbacks and the club will require more money up front to survive at this level than in previous years, he said.
We are hoping that the local business community can see the merits of gaining promotion for the Kiama municipality, with greater media coverage and a chance for the juniors to obtain a higher level of coaching in the long term, added Mr Harrod..
The Kiama area has a wealth of junior and youth talent and with the correct coaching could produce a premier league side for many years to come.
