AFTER 47 years of loyal service to the local community Gerringong Childrens Medical Research will have raised over $1 million to help sick kids by the end of this years annual quilt show.

Held from November 10 to 12 at the Gerringong Town Hall, the Gerringong Quilt Show has been an institution among local patch workers for the last 15 years.

We usually get around 2000 people through the door every year, event spokesman Dorothy Hanbridge said. It is an event that tends to attract a lot of people to the district. It is without doubt the best quilt show on the coast, if you ask any quilter about the show they all agree.

I think it helps that we set our show out differently in that all the quilts are on the wall not in rows down the middle so it makes it easier to navigate and I think it makes the room more spacious and lets the quilts stand out more.

With around 150 quilts on display, Mrs Hanbridge is confident this years show will be another success with the avid quilter, saying she is very much looking forward to the official opening of the show on the Friday night.

We have the Calendar Girls all coming to help open the show which is sure to give everyone a real laugh, she said. Every day during the show we will have morning and afternoon tea as well as lunch for anyone who is after that while there will also be a number of Christmas cakes and quilts on sale.

Anyone who would like to receive any more information on the show can ring Dorothy Hanbridge on 4234 1346.
