Toasting another highly successful season, Kiama Rugby Club held its annual presentation at the Kiama Golf Club earlier this month.

Capping off a stellar season in which he received runner up in the Illawarra Player of the Year, Jeff "?pigdog' Mitchell took home a swag of trophies including the coveted Player's Player Award as well as First Grade Best and Fairest and Coach's Award.

An emotional Mitchell played tribute to his teammates in accepting the awards saying he was already looking forward to next year's competition.

"There is no doubt we have unfinished business," he said. "In one way it was great to get so close but we are certainly looking at going one better next year especially after losing by such a narrow margin the big one.

"Apart from that it has been another terrific year, the blokes you play with down here are just awesome. I am very proud to play for Kiama Rugby."

Rewarded for years of tireless service to the club, Daryl "?Blocker' Thomas received the clubman of the year while Lorraine Rogers received recognition for her amazingly selfless work ethic by taking out the Club Service award.

A standout all year Michael Quinn was rewarded with the best back award while young gun Nathan Milthorpe received the award for best forward after his brilliant cameos off the bench in the top grade.

Mitchell Lark was lucky to receive the top trainer award after beating an all star field while Richard Payne had a very successful night taking home three awards including worst and dirtiest, outstanding player's service and coaches award.

Bringing an end to his highly successful tenure as Club President Mark Burns took the opportunity to thank both the committee and the players for their support over the previous two years.

Burns said he felt he was leaving the club in a good position both on and off the field and was looking forward to staying involved, perhaps as a blockbusting inside centre if representative duties do not get in his way.

All members are reminded the Annual General Meeting is to be held at the Kiama Rugby Club at 7pm 29 November 2007.

All members welcome.
