KARI HILL – on work experience
People seeking a relaxing and inspiring Sunday afternoon of instrumental music will have the opportunity this weekend when talented students of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music perform at Gerringong Town Hall.
Gerringong Music Club will host the performance.
The students are Jennifer Moon (clarinet), Elizabeth Park (cello), Michael Last (flute) and guitarist Morgan Haselden.
The program starts at 2pm and will include the Trio by Italian composer Nino Rota (best known for his film scores for clarinet, cello and piano).
A piece by Carlo Domenicone will feature the guitarist and the flautist in an enchanting trio by Florent Schmitt. Other pieces will include solos and ensemble items from lyrical to the expert.
“We try to organise things that will appeal to our local community,” Gerringong Music Club publicity officer Bobbie Miller said.
Ms Miller said club music director Gem Buck found inspiring music for the community in different styles including ensembles, orchestras and choral groups.
Conservatorium ensemble studies chair and well-known pianist David Miller AM will be the accompanist for the young musicians.
Miller began touring in 2002 with his best students on their Great Southern Tour of the Southern Tablelands and South Coast.
The next concert will be held on September 21 at Gerringong Town Hall, Fern Street with the group Classique.
Tickets for Sunday’s concert are available at the door for $15 a person.
