HOT on the heels of Saturday"s resounding election win, Kiama MP Matt Brown is optimistic about his prospects of becoming a Minister in the new Iemma Government.
Mr Brown won his third term with an increased margin, despite a statewide swing against the ALP, making him notionally one of the prime candidates for a spot in a reshuffled ministry.
Speaking at his post-election party at Kiama Bowling Club, Mr Brown confirmed he aspired to a Ministerial berth.
"I entered this game to make a difference and Ministers make differences not only to their local areas but also their state and their nation," he said.
With Premier Morris Iemma already confirming the announcement of a new cabinet featuring "new blood" and "new energy" by the end of the week, Mr Brown looms as one of the contenders for a spot.
However, Mr Brown, who has served as the parliamentary secretary in the prime portfolios of roads, transport and police, played down speculation he could take a seat in the new cabinet.
"That depends on my colleagues and the Premier , if there are vacancies I will give it a shot," Mr Brown said.
As for the future, Mr Brown pinpointed challenges in public transport as one of his main priorities for his third term.
Mr Brown, 35, said he felt like a parliamentary veteran after securing his third term on Saturday night.
"I remember starting in 1999 as a 27-year-old and now it seems I am one of the senior members of parliament," he said.
