Kiamas Ian Morris has recently won back to back Coach of the Month awards from the Illawarra Football Association.
KIAMA Soccer Club's player/coach, Ian Morris, has won back to back monthly coaching awards, after he was polled by the Illawarra Football Association as top division one coach for the second month in a row.
Morris has guided his charges through May with a clean slate, winning 4 straight and taking out some large scalps along the way.
The highlights being the 2-0 defeat of second-placed Woonona, handing the club a six point gap at the top; and then travelling to highly rated Wollongong Olympic and coming away with a gutsy 4-2 win after being two nil down.
Morris, while happy to be recognised for the reward is quick to thank his players for the effort, with all players contributing to the run of victories.
We set high standards and our training is structured on how we want to play on the weekend.
The club has 20 players capable of doing well in first grade and all make the most of their opportunities, he said.
The Quarriers will train this week after wet weather forced a reschedule of their clash against University, which will be played next Monday at the Quarry.
The side will be without mid-fielder Matt Gallagher who is travelling throughout Europe during the World Cup, his equally talented brother Brad is having a stellar season as sweeper for the Quarriers, displaying maturity in controlling the play and marshalling the troops around the paddock.
Morris has also contributed immensely on the pitch and is the leagues second top goal scorer with 15, while strike partner, Kris Brant, heads the table with 18 goals at the halfway stage.
