Mick Carr accused of ‘shooting the messengers’

Mr Carr shoots the messengers.
He continues with patronising humbug (Kiama Independent September 17).
He presents no case. If only he could tell us why climate change won’t matter and we could all sleep easily. Mr Carr is frightened. He may have to stop “lurking in a hole”, as he puts it, and find another way of earning a living.
There are jobs in renewable energy and they are above ground and may help with Mr Carr’s mood.
If Mr Carr knows science as he insists he does, he doesn’t apply it. Neil Fox clearly stated the facts – this cycle of warming has taken less than a hundred years. Others cycles were much longer.
There is not enough time for species to adjust. Mr Carr appears unaware of the potential of photosynthesis in energy production and the extreme danger posed by feedback loops.
What are we to do about it? We have a tiny window of opportunity that is rapidly narrowing. It may even be too late, but it’s worth a try. We must reduce the carbon dioxide we are spewing out – and now. That means everyone must use less energy generated by fossil fuels – especially coal and oil.
I reply as I fear that Mr Carr’s views will encourage dangerous complacency.
