MARTIN Wilson is the new Kiama Bowls Major Singles Champion after he defeated Michael Pepper in the final 31-14.
Despite playing in overcast, damp conditions, both men produced some excellent, if nervous bowls at times.
The scores were close for the opening few ends with the scores locked at 6-6. Wilson was then able to score a 15-9 lead and from then on was never headed.
Pepper who looked on recent form looked on track to record his first major singles title win but struggled to gauge the pace of the green.
Wilson played some good draw bowls was able to extend his lead to 23-11 and 29-14 before closing the game out for a comfortable win.
In other results, Geoff McIntrye and Bill Gorissen (fresh from trip to Tumut) easily won their second round Major Pairs encounter over Ross Blanch and Dave Newman 23-11.
Newman, who recently has been absent from the green played some excellent shots despite his lack of practice.
The number 7 pennant sides continued on their winning way, with a six-nil win on the weekend.
The scribe who was slightly under the weather after his singles" win forgot to pick up the pennants result for the weekend, sorry.
Nice to see Brad (Hotdog) Hair back at the club (having a brake from soccer) supporting the bowlers over the weekend and enjoying a hot dog or two.
