A WEEKEND of stormy weather left the municipality looking a little battle scarred this week.
A vacant townhouse narrowly avoided extensive damage after a large gum tree on the South Kiama Drive property thundered through the front fence in big winds.
State Emergency Service crews responded to 33 calls for emergency assistance between 1pm and 9pm on Sunday. Police and Integral Energy were called in to the tree fall on South Kiama Drive after powerlines were left strewn
dangerously across the roadway.
Selling agent for the townhouse, Victoria McQuire of LJ Hooker, said the owners of the property were relieved that the home had escaped any damage when one of the sites two large gum trees was brought down by intense winds.
