LIONS ON PROWL FOR YOUTH ASSIST

A CASH incentive will be offered to young people in the Kiama municipality to help them to achieve their dreams.
The Youth Assist scheme is being launched by Kiama Lions Club, who are offering a grant of up to $3000 on a dollar-for-dollar basis to help a young person, or persons, in the 16 to 19 years age group with assistance in the fields of education, the arts, sport, adventure or travel.
Kiama Lions believe that many people do not have the chance to fulfill personal development goals which would benefit not only them but the rest of the community in the long term simply because of a lack of funds, said Lions president Graeme Henderson.
We would hope that Youth Assist would open up the opportunities to many more deserving youth.
To qualify for the grant, the applicants must be aged 16 - 19 years, be residents of the Kiama municipality, complete in full the application form available from Kiama Lions and be interviewed by the selection committee.
Its envisaged that each applicant would put forward at least half the funding required for their venture unless there were special circumstances to warrant a higher level of assistance.
Applications must be on the form provided and submitted to the Kiama Lions Club of Kiama? Youth Assist Selection Committee, PO BOX 161,? Kiama, NSW 2533.
Application forms are available from the Lions club secretary Jim Webb on 4237 8232.
