KIAMA gained 12 new stars yesterday with the launch of The Beach and Bush Calendar Girls 2007 calendar at Kiamas Blowhole Point. The stunning new calendar features 12 local women aged between 50 and 80 who have bared all to raise money for the Childrens Medical Research Institute. International award-winning photographer Gary Barnes was the man behind the lens for the project. His contribution was also honoured at yesterdays media launch. Garys wife Cheryl was one of the lovely ladies to pose for the calendar, earning the spot of Miss July. For Cheryl, the fundraising venture held special significance after she lost her daughter Megan at age six after a battle with juvenile leukaemia.

For hes a jolly good fellow: The Calendar Girls with their much-loved photographer Gary Barnes at yesterdays launch.

THE Calendar Girls have set their sights on raising $80,000 for the Childrens Medical Research institute through the sale of their new calendar.

The calendar, which was shot over several months by award-winning photographer and former proprietor of Kiamas popular Beach and Bush Gallery, Gary Barnes, was officially launched at Kiamas Blowhole Point

yesterday.

All 12 calendar girls turned out for the launch,

disembarking from the Kiama courtesy bus to

rapturous applause.

Garys wife Cheryl the youngest of the Calendar Girls at just 51 was a late addition to the calendar.

She posed discreetly behind suitcases at Kiama Train Station.

Theres CCTV cameras there, so the whole of Railcorp has probably seen her photoshoot by now, laughed Gary, who described the assignment as the most enjoyable of his career.

The calendar is available through newsagents in Kiama, Gerringong, Jamberoo and Kiama Downs/Gainsborough, the Post Office at Gainsborough shops, Tourism Kiamas office at Blowhole Point, the Gerroa Boatfishermens Club, Jamberoo General Store and a number of other outlets throughout the Kiama district.

The calendar can also be ordered through the Childrens Medical Research Institute on 1800 677 260 or through the website www.cmri.com.au and at www.beachandbush.com.au
