Kiama power to win

KIAMA Power fielded two teams for their first South Coast AFL home game of 2007 at Bonaira Oval on Saturday against the Nowra Blues.
The team song was belted out twice on the day, with firsts and reserves winning their games convincingly.
Reserves won their game 8-5-53 to 4-2-26, after scores were elvel at halftime.
Best on field were Mick O"Toole, Robbie McMullan, Chris Lindsay and Rhys Doherty, with the leading goalkicker being Ben Williams with three majors.
The last minute recruitment to the team of some ex-rugby players resulted in some distinctly non-Australian rules passes and created some amusing moments for the supporters.
First grade won by an awesome 75 points, 18-15-123 to 7-6-48.
Some inspired work by the Power, led by Dan Herbert (6 goals), ensured Kiama avenged their loss against same opponent in the final of the pre-season knockout.
Best on field for the first grade were BJ Rawson, Dan Herbert, Lachlan Hilton, Sam Wolf and Josh Walton.
It was great to see Josh Walton playing in the same team as his father, James, who has played for the Power since its inception. For the record, both kicked 2 goals in this game.
In the first half, the backline, headed by Lachy, rebounded Nowra"s attacking game, but the third quarter saw Kiama leading the attack.
Kiama held the visitors scoreless in that term before a run in the fourth quarter that was too little, too late to catch the Power.
It was a very physical game, which saw a Nowra player sent off in the third quarter for wrestling, the official term for an all-in brawl.
It was easy to understand the heated emotions, with the Blues losing one of their players in a hit-and-run accident at Nowra while the Power were mourning of a player"s best friend to leukaemia.
Both wore with black armbands and a minute"s silence was observed at the start of the game.
