160 artists and 371 artworks to mark historic show

KIAMA Art Society will mark its 40th year with a rich exhibition of close to 400 works of art at its upcoming 28th Annual Exhibition.

The exhibition will be officially opened on October 28 and will run until November 5.

This year the exhibition will be opened by Helen Grant, editor of Australian Artist magazine.

Entries will be judged by Emeritus Professor Peter Pinson of NSW University College of Fine Arts.

Peter Pinson initially studied at The National Art School, Sydney and Sydney Teachers College. During this period, he worked for a time as Assistant to distinguished Australian artists Frank Hinder and sculptor Margel Hinder.

In 1968, he was awarded the New South Wales Travelling Art Scholarship, which took him overseas for three years.

He spent five months in Paris, after being awarded a Residency in Sydney Universitys studio in the Cite Internationale des Arts. In London, he completed a Masters Degree at the Royal College of Art.

As a painter, he has been awarded a number of Artist-in-residencies including three at the Cite Internationale des Arts in Paris and residencies at Arthur Boyds property Riversdale and at The Gunnery in Sydney.

Next month he will take up a residency at Arthur Boyds property Bundanon.

As judge for the event, Mr Pinson will choose from the work of 160 artists who will display 371 works of art as part of the Kiama exhibition.
