The appearance of Lisa Marie Presley at the Kubes on Sunday highlighted the reverence shown by the Kubes when they dedicated their day to farewelling Michael Jackson.
Smurf, attired in briefs and white glove, dictated the actions and entry to each race.
Heat one was from ‘Off The Wall’ whereby after a suitable pose the Kubes were told to ‘Don’t Stop’. Fish, Barb, DR Spock, Manly Lisa were unable to catch the ‘Speed Demon’ Gerry Can.
Dredge, Pearl, Kurt and St John were the ‘Bad’ starters for heat two and the ‘Smooth Criminal’ Gideon, took the honours.
The final ‘Dangerous’ heat saw a premature ‘Gone Too Soon’ Rocky get disqualified leaving Apples, Boneyard, and Sgt Schultz all ‘Come Together’ behind the speedy Munchenkinder.
The final naturally was a ‘Thriller’ and Smurf’s dog Elvis barked ‘Beat It’, after he had licked the soup and Kubes leapt to the body gyrations of Billie Jean. Gerry Can the Man had the best rhythm and was awarded the title of ‘Invincible’.
The Kube ice chips of Josie, Clem, Dylan, Harry, Ellen, William and Charlotte, lined up in front of president Fish, who lugubriously sang ‘Pretty Young Thing’ which frightened the young children into alarming diving, swimming and exits from the pool.
Discussion from the drinks committee led to an eminent coup with the beer cartel muting new ideas and policy changes.
Fortunately, with their impaired memory they forgot what they first thought of and drifted off without a decision.
A challenge has been made by the highly trained Gropers who want to swim up from Gerringong, then race and also engage in various athletic challenges like arm wrestling, weight lifting, engorging excessively then swimming home.
Such intimidation will be met and conquered by the Kubes, who have begun their peculiar and secret training of a similar nature.
This week’s soup was from Kurt’s vegetable compost and had bits of coconut shell, lime and rotting stuff. Elvis ate most of it.
Next week is the highly awaited Femme de Kubes Day where the Kube ladies challenge the men to do things they never do at home. Last year the ‘putting down the toilet seat’ and ‘toothpaste tube cap replacement’ finals proved just too difficult for the male Kubes.
What surprises await the Kube next week?
