JANUARY is the peak summer period and an exciting month in Kiama. This is when the Kiama Show Society takes over our picturesque showground and brings it alive for two days and two nights.

For 162 years this volunteer organisation has been putting the Kiama district on show as no other organisation does and it seems the popularity of the show never wains.

In 2010 there are many new faces to meet and features to be experienced at the Kiama Show.

Firstly, we welcome our new secretary, Sue Granger-Holcombe, who has been working very hard and doing a great job throughout the year familiarising herself with everything about the Kiama Show.

We also welcome and thank our sponsors, entertainment, exhibitors, competitors, patrons and volunteers.

Make sure you are at the show to experience High Velocity Trick Riders, the champion Airborn Cheer leaders, the Lily+Minx fashion extravaganza, Jake Walker Moto Trial Bike rider, mini trots, climbing wall and barista demonstrations – all new in 2010 – as well as the ever popular cattle and horse judging, showgirls, Albion Park Toyota Beaut Ute, rodeo, hay stacking, woodchop, pet show, fireworks and much more.

The new pavilion was much appreciated last year and is destined to delight again in 2010.

The Show Society believes our record of 2000 pavilion exhibits could easily be broken – especially since we now have room for more and we have been experiencing such favourable weather. It has been predicted that the pavilion will be a sea of colour because of increased entries in the flower, fruit and vegie classes.

I urge you to come along and be a part of this renowned historical event on January 29 and 30.

See you at the show!
– Geoff Brain Kiama Show president, 2010.
