KIAMA Public School's girls hockey team has won the South Coast Championship and advanced to the final eight of the Primary Schools Sport Association (PSSA) knockout in the process.
Kiama had a first round bye and in round two they played defending South Coast champions Jamberoo, winning 1-0.
In round three they defeated Gerringong 2-nil in extra time thanks to goals from Sally Carney.
In extra time Kiama lifted, with Bella Worner-Butcher, Kiarra Marsh-Walker and Mikaela Patterson working hard.
Mardi Murphy, Erin Porritt, Candice Daniec and Caitlin Wallner were strong in defence, while Jemma Hart, Bronte Illingworth, Grace Pardoe and Grace Jamieson starred in attack.
In round four Kiama easily defeated Mittagong 8-nil, with Grace Jamieson, Mikaela Patterson (2), Grace Pardoe (2), Bella Worner-Butcher (2) and Kiarra Marsh-Walker scoring goals.
Sheridan Young, Caitlin Wallner, Erin Porritt, and Mardi Murphy were safe defensively while Chivonne Robb and Candice Daniec offered great support in the goal.
Hollie Poppleton and Jemma Hart kept the ball wide and Sally Carney attacked well in a great team effort.
Kiama sealed the South Coast championship with a 3-nil win over Crookwell.
The team would like to thank umpires Mrs Grey, Mrs Grant and Ms Marsh, the parents and coach/manager Sue Carney, who has just gained selection as a state hockey representative.
Kiama's next game is against the winner of the Riverina Region; if they survive that round they will then compete in the State Finals at Lithgow.
