FRIDAY, June 29, will be a golden occasion for Kevin and Dianne Sullivan, who will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary.
The couple was married at St Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Paddington on June 29, 1957, after moving to Sydney from country NSW.
Kevin grew up in Cargo, a small gold mining town near Orange in the Central West, and Dianne was from Bungendore, which is near Canberra.
A mutual friend introduced them at a day out at Bondi Beach and they discovered they were both living in Woollahra.
They were married within the year and their first child was born 12 months later.
Kevin and Dianne now have six children and 12 grandchildren.
The family holidayed at East's Beach every Christmas for 20 years before buying a house in Reid Street, with the intention of retiring in Kiama because they were so fond of the area.
When they bought house, they said it was their dream home.
One of their children, Donna, met and married a local boy, Jeff Haigh.
That was the beginning of the children moving from Sydney to be near Kevin and Dianne.
Four of their children live in Kiama, all within a few streets of Kevin and Dianne.
The remaining two plan on moving here in the future.
