GERRINGONG Surf Lifesaving club will be coming together next weekend to celebrate the end of another fantastic season as the clubs annual presentation night takes place.
In a year that brought Gerringong much fame, namely through Michael Quinn being plastered throughout the pages of the Telegraph, season 2006 was one to be remembered,
Whether it was the high adrenaline search and rescue that encapsulated the Captain Christie or the simple thrill that came with Michael Russells head getting put through the bow at Country, the past year had it all.
Gerringong was once more put on the map through the heroic efforts of the towns rowing brigade while the Surf Spectacular once more brought hundreds of new faces to town.
Representation by the Gherkins and the Grinners on the Sunday of Aussies was certainly a great thrill and the Veterans silver at Aussies a sheer delight.
However, I am sure most would agree season 2006 was one will always be defined by the sheer fun and frivolity provided by one particular crews misfortune at Branch.
So come one, come all and bring your own personal highlight of season 2006 to the presentation night Saturday July 29 at 7pm, tie one on and then back up the next day at 1pm for the AGM.
This years committee have done a terrific job however many have decided to move on.
There is a big push for new blood on the cards, so if you or anyone you now is interested in helping out, then please come along to the AGM.
Till next time, Oars in...
