Gerringong celebrating Surfside success

WARILLA ladies showed how it's done when they took out the quinella in the Ladies' Fours at the Gerringong Surfside 2007 Lawn Bowls Carnival.
In a great result for Warilla, skip Leone Barnett led her team of Jessie Taylor, Dorothy Delatorre and Shirley Lindsay up to the presentation area to take the winner's prize with a result of 2 wins plus 40.
Just prior another Warilla team of skip Rita Ledgerwood, Carol Croch, Emelia West and Barbara O'Donnell had taken out the runners-up prize with their result of 2 wins plus 26.
Host club Gerringong, felt they had a great chance in the Mixed Triples by fielding a very strong team in Zach Gabrielsen, Gonnie Derks and Glen Benson.
However, it was Bomaderry's trio of skip Lenny Leveni, Fran Leveni and Dave Elliott that took the winner's prize with a 2 wins plus 36 result. Gerringong had to be satisfied with the runner-up spot with 2 wins plus 32.
The big guns came out for the Men's Triples with the St. John's Park team of Peter Delamont, Chris Edmonds and John Boniface taking the day with 2 wins plus 42.
A composite team of visitors, Scott Bateup, Luke West and Terry Bryans were runners-up with 2 wins plus 36.
Gerringong is taking solace in that both Delamont and Edmonds are former Gerringong players.
Meanwhile, Shoalhaven Heads took out the final event of the carnival, the mixed fours.
Ned Collier's team of Sharon Hogan, Joan Wheatland and Paul Hogan came in with a result of 2 wins plus 25.
Chris Edmonds, Laurel Edmonds, Jan McIntyre and Geoff McIntyre took the runners-up position.
Wal Davidson's Gerringong team of won the AM prize with a plus 18.
