Saturday’s Stableford sponsor South Coast Hair may have Ian Woodlands knocking on their doors to redeem his winning voucher by having a bit of extra colour added to his lustrous grey locks.

Ian won the ‘A’ Grade with 41 points on our well-groomed course, with Tony Quinn keeping to the short back and sides, took out the runner-up position with 37 points.

Luke Schibeci made an impressive debute in his first competition by winning the B Grade with 41 points. This is not unexpected, considering his pedigree.

Col Stoddart brushed up on some of his old skills to grab the runner-up spot with 38 points and balls went down to 36 points.

Nearest to pins: second, G. Manning, eighth: G. Manning, 10th drive and pitch, G. Cork. Longest drive, (A) A. Tartu, (B) P. McLeod, 14th D. Cahill, 18th: A. Delaite (Kiama).

Barney Gillard and Mark Schibeci are both very competitive golfers, particularly when they play within the same group. Barney’s 38 points edged Mark out after a countback since Barney had the better back nine.

The next game could be interesting. Balls went down to 36 points. Nearest to pins, second C. Wishart, eighth, P. Bramley, 14th B. Gillard.

Wendy Bramley coped well in the less than ideal conditions on Thursday to win the Joe Dignam Ray White Real Estate sponsored stableford with 33 points. Marg Copley was runner-up with 31 points, closely followed by Leanne Weir on 30 points.

Drive and pitch Div 1 P. Ford/L. Weir. Div. 2 D. Dunn/K. Dibley, longest drive, Div 1: L. Weir. Div. 2: K. Dibley.

Don Sharpe also braved the elements on Thursday to win the 12-hole chicken run with 23 well earned points. Col Stoddart put in a stoic effort to accept the runner-up prize.

There is another opportunity for all club members to roll up their sleeves and participate in a ‘working bee’ on Saturday, July 11, starting at 8 am.

For those who want to play golf first and then join the workforce, you will be welcomed with open arms. Please bring paint brushes, rollers, shovels and rakes. You know you want to!
