KIAMA JUNIOR SOCCER CLUB
KIAMA Junior Soccer Club's under 10s scored their first win of the season proper, against Dapto on Saturday.
Under 6 Gold: The weather came good at just the right time for the team and their fans to enjoy a great game of soccer.
The visitors from Dapto were keen but Kiama fullback Justin short and goalie Tom Behl-Shanks managed to kept them at bay.
Izzy Dutton and Joshua Contarin attacked the opposition goal with support from Alicia Harris and Alex Swan.
Katie Harris and Breanna Saad showed their ever-improving skills while the game was capped with a great shot from Lachlan Harrington that found the back of the net.
Under 8 Blue: The team was excited despite the cold conditions at Albion Park after missing midweek training.
Kiama started slowly but once the cobwebs cleared demonstrated the teamwork they are capable of.
Owen Sutherland and Tim Kershaw were called on to stop a number of attacks while Kyle Jelliffe, Ben Healey and Trent Bishop were great in defence.
Che Stubbs and Matt Brockman both scored twice while Joshua Spain also found the back of the net.
Annie Hawes, Mitchell Bartolotta and Rhylee Bamford dominated in midfield and all nearly scored goals.
Under 9 Blue: The team continue to exceed expectations with some polished performances.
Kiama's midfield of Boyd Maclean, Sam Vazzoler, Joel Weston and Liam Hedges dominated in the centre.
Jordan Warren was awarded for his hard work in the midfield with a goal while Conner Jarrald scored twice.
Jimmy Swan pressured Lakeside's defence while Jack Markham had a strong game in goals in the first half and produced some pin point crosses in the second half.
A highlight was the commitment of Eliza Skorulis and Oscar Alexander in defence.
Callum Sparkes was awarded the player of the match with his high work rate in the first half and his strong game in goals in the second half.
Under 10A: Kiama scored their first win of the 2007 season proper in a high-scoring affair against Dapto.
Kiama opened the scoring early in the first half following a perfectly-placed corner from Jack Heffernan.
Minutes later Blake powered a shot into the top of the net after skilful build up work from Liam Case.
Despite defence from Nick Keatley and Bede Jansens, Dapto pulled one back.
However, Dylan McGillivray replied with a trademark goal which started with great short passing work from Bjorn Myers.
Dapto managed to level at 3-all after the break but Kiama responded with good defence from Ryan Alexander and James Poelczer.
Josh Weise held the midfield together before Blake scored his second goal and player of the match Keelan Robinson combined with Brendan Pollard to seal a thrilling 5-3 win for the under 10s.
