FIRST QUARTER SETS UP WIN

September 20, 2006

Section: Sport

A BLISTERING first quarter from Kiama Power U15s that featured eight goals has set up a grand final showdown against the Northern Tigers next Saturday.

The Powers 16-12-108 to 6-5-41 thumping of Wollongong came after coach Darren Williams experimented with the line up, with players playing out of position and Jack Mohony celebrated his invitation to join the Sydney Swans Academy with a best on ground display.

Matt Rawson, Matt Norris and Callum Houghton-Smith also stood out in a dominant Kiama performance.

The side will train hard during the week for their clash with the Tigers at Jock Brown Oval, Barrack Heights at 1.30 pm.

Meanwhile the U10s fought hard in their match against the Highland Hawks and were leading at half time before two late third quarter goals from the Hawks resulted in the Hawks winning 5-1-31 to Kiamas 3-6-24.

Tom Carmody, Jack Schneider, Matthew Arblaster and Brent Johnson were best for Kiama and coach Gray Schneider was pleased that all his players gave their best.

The 2006 U10s competition was the tightest of all the age groups and the third place finish to Kiama is a credit to both the coach and the

players.
