AFTER defeating top seeded Airini Mason of New Zealand, Gerroas Sally Fitzgibbons has finished second in the Billabong Pro-Teen Series girls final and finished the Pro-teen series ranked 6th with 7125 points.
The eventual winner of the event, held at Bells Beach, was local Victorian Amy Stewart.
In a messy 1.5m beach break Stewart turned on a fast and fluent performance to defeat the form surfer of the event in Fitzgibbons.
The local knowledge proved the difference with Stewart opening quickly on a clean faced left hander as Sally was forced to play catch up. In the dying stages Sally required 6.01 to win and as she paddled onto a peaking left hander the wave closed out and the win was Stewarts.
Earlier in September Sally took out the state title, which was held in Coffs Harbour and the event caps off her best Billabong Pro-teen series to date.
