ASPIRING filmmakers and artists can seek the recognition they deserve at the Cow and Sea Festival of Short Film and Art Festival.

The event begins on Friday, September 7, at 6pm at Gerringong Town Hall and feature short film and artwork entries.

The short films will be screened on the Friday night, with judges on hand to determine the winners in a variety of age categories.

There will also be a people's choice award, with all winners receiving a "Mermoo" trophy, which Pics "?N' Flicks committee member Andy Mark describes as their "Oscar". Other prizes include $100 and movie passes for each category winner.

The weekend will include encore screenings of the films from noon on Saturday, as well as the showcasing of and winners announced for the Art festival.

Admission to the festival is free.

Filmmakers can still submit entries. Those wishing to enter the festival should contact Andy Mark on 0401 711 833.
