Field of fashions for Kiama Cup

MOMENTUM is building for the inaugural Kiama Cup race meeting at Kembla Grange on April 14.

One great part of any race meeting is the fashions and the Kiama Cup race day will be no exception.

Gerringong"s bellachara boutique hotel has sponsored the Fashions in the Field event, offering a $500 day spa experience for the main prize.

The blokes don"t miss out either , there will also be a prize for the best-dressed man.

Every person in Kiama is invited to the inaugual Kiama Cup , and for free.

Organisers have obtained free tickets for every person from the Kiama Municipality interested in attending the meeting.

Race day organiser Geoff Heinecke hopes the event will become the largest fundraising event in the municipality.

"If 12,000 people from Kiama wanted to come to the event, they could," Mr Heinecke said. "We want it to be a big day and we want everyone from Kiama to come up for it.

"We want the Kiama Cup to grow into Kiama"s biggest community event."

Mr Heinecke hoped that between 2000 and 3000 Kiama people would make the pilgrimage to Kembla Grange Racecourse.

The free tickets are available from Kiama Municipal Council, McInerney"s Pharmacy, Steel Real Estate, Mitre 10 and Cukuna Sales.

Sponsors have been secured for every event on the eight-race card, including Kiama Council, which will sponsor the inaugural Kiama Cup.

Other race sponsors include Figtree Private Hospital, Wollongong Day Surgery, Foster"s Brewery, Ringway Control & Automation, Davis & Herbert, James Hardie Industries and Kiama Lions Club.

There will also be a special train from Kiama to Kembla Grange, which will make a return trip at the end of the race meeting.
