ERIN Wakefield has come away from the Australian Junior Taekwondo selection trials held at the Whitlam Centre in Liverpool last weekend with another Australian team uniform.

Having represented the Australian team two times previously, Wakefield will head to Vietnam in July to contest the Junior World Taekwondo Championships.

The championships bring together the finest junior athletes from 30 countries around the world with Korea still the strongest country.

In the lead up to the selections Erin stepped up her training to simulate competition in one-on-one sessions with her coach, all aiming to come away from Vietnam satisfied with her performance.

I want to win gold this year, said Erin.

The current Taekwondo Australia Female Junior Athlete of the Year, won gold last year at the Vietnam Open and the Prestige of the World title is the driving force behind the scenes for Erin.

Winning will mean I am Junior World Champion and I will keep the hard work going so I can keep fine tuning so I am ready, she added.

Erin has just returned from an AIS training camp with the national junior team, and is continuing her intense preparation.
