A CONCERT and barbecue at Easts Beach Holiday Park last week raised almost $1400 for Ronald McDonald House.
The concert by 3 Stripe Ave marked the beginning of a tour of events along the east coast of Australia fundraising for the charity.
Lead guitarist Ace Schuldt decided to organise the tour as a way of thanking the charity.
“I was diagnosed in 2002 with non-Hodgkins lymphoma and I spent all of 2003 in a Ronald McDonald House,” he said.
The park’s assistant manager, Loneen McLeod, said the Sydney-based band had been playing at Easts Beach once a week during the summer and they decided to fundraise last Wednesday because it was the last one for the season.
They held a raffle with donated prizes and asked the concertgoers for donations.
Ms McLeod said this activity raised $378, which would be sent in with a donation by the park’s management.
Kiama Rotary Club holds barbecues in conjunction with the concerts and last week they donated all the proceeds to Ronald McDonald Housel.
President Geoff Cole said they raised about $1000 from Wednesday night.
