DEFENDERS STAND TALL FOR KIAMA

KIAMA U9 White faced the Unanderra Gold team in a match that was highlighted by solid defensive efforts from both teams.
Unanderra started briskly after launching early attacking raids on the Kiama goal.
The Kiama defensive line of Jack Heffernan, Zac McHugh and Steven Effield held firm and the tide began to turn.
Solid midfield play from Kingsley Douglas and Joshua Weise provided forward momentum with good runs down both wings putting pressure on the Unanderra goal.
Brendan Pollard and Jack Kay produced attacking raids only to result in a number of good saves from the Unanderra keeper.
In the second half, the game swang excitingly from end to end. as Unanderra resorted to long-range shots on Kiamas goal, one of which was brilliantly pushed around the post by Daniel Blomley.
Kiama coach Mark Myers used Bede Jansens and Lachlan McFarlane down the left wing with excellent effect, with both players making penetrating attacking runs, putting the ball into the middle.
Bjorn Myers threatened the Unanderra goal form the right side with strong runs with the ball.
Steven Effield was man of the match for Kiama.
Meanwhile in the other match of the round Kiama U12A team went into their clash with confidence after a 4-0 win against Tarrawanna the week before.
At 1-0 down the Kiama forward line of Matt Finch and Daniel D'Amico were constantly on the attack but it was Jacob Pickles who got the breakaway and neatly slotted a beautiful shot past the keeper.
Midfielders Corey Tinney,Mitchell Coslovich, Nicko Forrest, Jacob Hoskings and Matt Jones worked hard all game to try to break the Corrimal defense.
Defenders Luke Argerakis, Nic Farrington, Bradley George and Patrick McDonald were solid in their efforts to deny the opposition chances at keeper Matt Waite.
Man of the Match went to Bradley George and the match ended in a 1 all draw.
