Gerroa resident David Kerr cycled for 24 hours during the weekend before last to raise money for Cam-bodian children.

Pedal Against Poverty held a 24-hour cycling event at Criterium Circuit at Bass Hill and Mr Kerr was part of a pedal team of 12 cyclists.

The event raised money for children who live in the slum of Stung Mean Chey rubbish dump in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

Poor health and a lack of education are the major needs of the children.

“It’s an investment in bringing core change to a community by addressing the health and educational needs of the children,” Mr Kerr said.

Mr Kerr rode around the 800m track from noon on Saturday until the next day.

The money raised will go to the Water of Life Centre, which provides a safe environment where the children are given food, educated and cleaned.

Donations can still be made at www.pedalagainstpoverty.com or to Mr Kerr directly at dwkerr@westnet.com.au or 0422 837 287.
