Best of leisure THE annual Illawarra Caravan Camping 4WD, Fish and Boat Show will take place at the Illawarra Turf Club, located on the Princes Highway, Kembla Grange on March 5-7, from 9am-5pm each day. Organ donor week THE NSW Organ and Tissue Donation Service has urged all potential organ donors to communicate their wishes to a loved one on Organ Donor Awareness Week, which lasts until February 28. At present only 56 per cent of families nationally allow their loved ones’ organs to be donated. For more information about how to donate, visit www.donatelife.gov.au.

A gem of a fair Illawarra Lapidary Club Rock and Mineral Fair will be held on February 28 at Stuart Park, North Wollongong from 8.30am to 2pm. Members selling minerals, fossils, lapidary work, jewellery, books, equipment. “Rock Scramble” is held around noon for children and young people. Enquiries: David Hindmarsh 4234 1468.

Blooming lovely The Kiama Garden Club will meet on February 26 at the North Kiama Neighbourhood Centre at 10:30am. It is the first anniversary of the Floral Art Group and visitors are invited to see the demonstration and learn about procedures of floral art. Morning tea will be provided. Rural scholarships Rural students have been encouraged to apply for NSW Farmers Association Tertiary Scholarship Program by February 26. The $5000 scholarship is open to partners and children of association members as well as members themselves who are studying their second year or later at tertiary level at a recognised institution. This institution does not have to be in NSW. Application forms and where to send them can be found at www.nswfarmers.org.au and must be received by post or fax by 5pm, February 26. No electronic submissions will be accepted.

J’roo Ladies brekkie JAMBEROO Ladies Fellowship will host a breakfast at the Belmore Room, Jamberoo Valley Lodge, on Saturday, February 27. Quota Conference The Quota District Conference was held at the Kiama Pavilion over the weekend hosting 42 women from eight of the 10 clubs in the region. Established in 1919, Quota is the longest-running women’s organisation worldwide and raises money for the hearing and speech impaired as well as disadvantaged women and children. The guest speaker for the conference was Father Chris Riley from Youth Off the Streets. Anyone interested in becoming Quota members can call District Governor Helen Kirsten on 4232 1767.

Wings event takes flight EVENT organiser Michael Hough said that ‘Connie’, one of the most popular attractions of the Wings Over Illawarra event would again be in full flight this year. Connie is the last flying Lockheed Super Constellation in the world. Shellharbour City Council and the Historical Aircraft Restoration Society (HARS) will host the fourth annual Wings Over Illawarra Open Day on Sunday at the Illawarra Regional Airport, Albion Park. Admission is $15 adults, $5 children, $10 concession or $40/family. gates open at 9.30am.
