Sewing circle
JAMBEROO knitting/crochet and sewing circle will meet on February 8 at Oggi’s Cafe at 6pm – the first time in 2010. Everyone is welcome and the cost is just a gold coin to cover costs. For more information call the cafe on 4236 1313. Last year our group raised $80 to donate to the Elders Christmas tree fund. We have experienced knitters, crocheters and sewers who can get new members started – and help along the way with any projects.
JPs on hand
DOCUMENTS requiring a signature from a Justice of the Peace can be brought to Wollongong Library on February 6 and 20. JPs will be available from 10am until noon.

Seniors’ trip
GERRINGONG and district seniors are invited to come on a coach trip on Wednesday, February 17. The coach will stop at Gerringong and Kiama, taking you to Cronulla, Bundeena, through the Royal National Park and the Sea Cliff Bridge. Tickets are $25 with lunch and ferry fares extra. Kiama U3A
Charmian Clift – a talk by Dr Graham Tucker. Charmian was born in 1923 at Bombo and became an internationally acclaimed novelist. She also wrote for the ABC TV and for the Sydney Morning Herald. The Kiama Independent published her poetry aged eight on the front page of their paper next to the story of Charles Kingston Smith. This famous front page is displayed on the Kingsford Smith memorial above Gerroa beach. Monday, February 15, North Kiama Neighbourhood Centre, 2pm. All welcome.

Library talk
THE Friends of Kiama Library welcome Allan Mackay as guest speaker today (Wednesday) at 7.30pm in the Family History Centre below the Library in Railway Parade. Allan will be talking about The Raft of the Medusa, the extraordinary 1819 romantic painting by Theodore Gericault, and about the sensational events of the actual shipwreck and its aftermath.
