Stumped: Kiama first grade batsman Michael Norris may be out stumped but Kiama had the last laugh after recording a first innings win over premiership favourites Oak Flats at Kiama Sporting Complex last Saturday.

JAMBEROO all rounder Kurt Miller has blasted an unbeaten double century and snared nine wickets for the match in his sides outright win over Shellharbour at Tom Willoughby Oval last Saturday.

Millers 221 not out included 24 boundaries and six sixes and coupled with combined match figures of 9/32, Miller produced one of the finest performances in the history of South Coast Cricket.

Meanwhile Kiama first grade have humbled premiership favourites Oak Flats after opener Dale Scifleet (90) fell just short of a century, captain Matt Meurant (43) and tail ender Glen Cleary (25) ensured the Cavs left the with first inning points.

Despite the win the middle order failed to impress and although the batting woes have continued captain Meurant plans to stick with the current order.

" Jamberoo batsman Kurt Miller acknowledges his team-mates after reaching his double century against Shellharbour City on Saturday.

It was a good win for us and the important thing now is to back up and beat Shellharbour this weekend, he said.

Obviously it is a big worry and at the moment there is a big responsibility on Dale and myself to score runs. Changing the order isnt the answer we will stick with it and hope we come good in the future, he said.

A major positive for the team is the emergence of Glen Cleary, who Meurant believes will continue to make a difference this season.

He is a good cricketer, he said. He has given us three genuine bowlers and is a hand batsman. You could see the first time he trained that he is a good cricketer, added Meurant.

Kiama now face Shellharbour in a match that should see them post a big score and see the batsman get some much needed time in the middle.

Meanwhile defending premiers Albion Park suffered a heartbreaking two run loss at the hands of Lake Illawarra despite a gallant fight from lower order batsman Jason Kast (46) and Clint McKenzie (28).

Standout performances in other matches were a top score to talented youngster Brynley Richards (35) in the Rails loss to Warilla, Albion Park captain Dan Abela (57) notched a half century against Lake and left arm spinners Phil DellOrefice of Oak Flats (6/43) and Lake Illawarras Tony Panecasio (6/49) look set for another bumper season with the ball for their clubs.
