Gerringong Breakers junior soccer team had a busy day at Gerry Emery Oval on Saturday, with most teams playing at home.
The day started with the under 6s playing Shoalhaven Heads and finished with the senior men playing against Callala in all three grades.
Under 7s played with lots of energy, with every player fighting hard for the ball.
Scott Culey made a great run early with a fine shot to open the scoring. Adrian Mansfield was strong in defence with good clearance kicks.
Man of the match Tom Wade also ran well and was on target for three goals. Alec Watts was strong in the middle, nearly scoring with a huge shot while Dane Cassen-Whitehurst was only denied a goal by a fine save.
Under 8 played against a very strong Illaroo R side which brought the best out of the team.
Every Gerringong player didn’t stop running and trying. The score wasn’t reflective of the closeness of the game with two runaway Illaroo goals. If they keep up that sort of effort they will win plenty of games. Goal scorer was Aiden Wearne.
Under 9B The team played brilliantly.
Liam, Matt, Taya and Katie were strong defensively and stopped every attack United tried. In attack Ashlee almost scored a couple of times. Jacquimo, Samantha, Eamon, Jaclyn and Wynter controlled the midfield and created many scoring opportunities.
Under 10B had another win with some great teamwork displayed on the day.
Michael Robinson combined well down the left flank with Douglas Davison and Connor Bland to make several attacking moves. The right flank was left open on a couple occasions and Dominic Cooper took advantage with some great forward movement and excellent crosses.
